North Harbour Fish Market

A mainly wholesale seafood supplier to Auckland restaurants and retailers, starting from scratch. We created the brand, the colour scheme and the look of everything the business puts in front of people, from the weekend market stall to the polo shirts the reps wear into hotel meetings.

The brief

Fresh off the boat, and professional.

North Harbour Fish Market sells mainly to restaurants and retailers. Its only public face is the stall at the Hobsonville Markets at Catalina Bay, a popular weekly fixture where the public can buy fresh off the boat product straight from the supplier.

The brand had to work for both audiences: friendly and appetising at the market, smart and businesslike in front of hotel and restaurant buyers.

The mark

Three fish, one line.

Three fish drawn on a single continuous line, with the name set around them. It works as a roundel or stacked, in colour on white or reversed out in white on a dark ground.

The stall

An introduction at the counter.

At Hobsonville Markets the backdrop does the introducing: the logo, the web address and a compass over deep water. Every fish in the cabinet carries a price label.

The uniform

Smart enough for the meeting.

The reps visit some of Auckland's top hotel and restaurant chains, so they needed to look smart and businesslike in face-to-face meetings. We chose a navy polo with the logo kept small on the chest and sleeve, in white.
